My Zebras
I call them my Zebras because I have painted them and they have been with me for a few years, they are family to me.
I think there is nothing so mesmerising as a group of Zebra. They remind me of soldiers, constantly on guard.
Each and every Zebra has a unique pattern. Their skin is black and is covered with white and black hair. They can run up to 40 miles an hour and when a young Zebra is born it will stand up within six minutes.
Zebras are clever animals and they are sentient. I believe you can see this in their eyes and perhaps it is why I have such great affection for them.
They care deeply about their fellow Zebra and are always protecting each other. Not far from the zebra you may spot Elephants and Giraffes as they tend to look after each other.
I love their eyes, you can see and almost see the intelligence in them. They relay a constant stream of emotions.
Theyn are perfect in their beautifully pin striped suits.
My Elephants
Again these are my Elephants.
Elephants, the magnificent giants of the African landscape. They wander silently through the African bush, sometimes saluting the morning sun or a whisper of danger.
Their size and weight is awe inspiring. These wonderful creatures can be both gentle and ferocious. They are very protective of each other and especially their young. If one of the heard dies, they feel incredible sadness and often stay with their dead relative for a number of hours, mourning the loss.
They are very intelligent animals and well known for their memory. They are the only animal that cannot jump, they have to keep their feet very close to the ground at all times. The pads on their feet are highly sensory and can pick up sounds of other elephant in the area.
I have witnessed a man assigned to encourage an elephant into a new tribe walk with the elephant for days and nights. The Elephants begin to see the man as part of their herd.
The Elephant calf is a joyous, mischievous, animal, much like a naughty toddler. Such fun to watch.
I feel so privileged to share this beautiful African space with them.

My Giraffes
Giraffes the Giants of the African Jungle. These stately, elegant creatures view the African Savannah over the heads of trees.
Their markings are like fingerprints as no two animals have the same markings. Their necks have seven vertebra, the same as a human and a mouse.
They are alert, intelligent creatures, who act as the lookout and security for many others including, Zebra and Elephant. They can run up to 35mph, a male Giraffe can grow up to 6 meters in height.
They are familty minded and very protective of their family, particularly their young.
Their faces are angular and quite beautiful, their eyes are doe like with lengthy eyelashes. The kick of a Giraffe is viscious and they are more than able of defending tehmslves against lion or cheetah.
They are the Ballerinas of the African Giants.
